Wind Farm Emergency Training

Wind Farm Emergency Training

We have been providing Emergency First aid training and consultancy on Emergency Procedures for various Renewable Energy site over the last couple years. With so many wind farms being constructed and run in remote locations it would take emergency services an extended period to reach these sites. It’s therefore important that these sites have a way of responding to incidents and provide care to employees until help arrives. We were grateful to be able to help Bam and Siemens with Emergency First Aid Training in particular looking at the types of equipment and techniques to treat injured employees in a winter environment in the Scottish Mountains.

During the two one days sessions we looked at different types of vacuum splints, emergency shelters and stretchers, the practical sessions allowed employees to train and practice treating casualties in the setting where they work.

Here’s what some of the trainees had to say about the sessions:

‘Course structure was ideal starting with basics and leading to outside practicals.’

‘Course content was excellent, particularly useful to try new kit for real.’

‘Relevance of course was ideal coming into winter.’

Meall a' Bhuachaille Recce for our Event Medical and First Aid Cover

We took advantage of the break in the incessant downpours to scale Meall a' Bhuachaille in the Cairngorms.

Several of the events that we provide medical and first aid cover for, are based around Loch Morlich and the Cairngorms. Our first event is coming up on 7th August: The Aviemore Triathlon, hosted by Durty Events (www.aviemoretriathlon.com).

Hopefully the weather holds...

Celtman medical cover

We were in Sheildaig and Torridon for the Celtman Triathlon this weekend, a truly amazing event to be involved in. With competitors from over 39 nations taking part it has a great atmosphere from the start on the shores of Loch Sheildaig to the finish at Torridon, with the athletes taking in some of Scotland best roads and mountains in between.

Avium were providing medical cover for the swim section from the MV Seaflower of Torridon Sea tours and the at the event finish at Torridon Village.

It was great to be up on the West Coast again!
